Hi friends! I’m so excited to finally be sharing with you our daughter’s nursery! I’ve made it a point not to give you any glimpses into the room so that we could do one big reveal! Because who doesn’t love a good surprise? But the secrecy has been killing me!
We were dealing with a small space as her room was formerly my husband’s office and he needed to be able to still utilize part of it when working from home. It required a great deal of creativity on my part to design my dream space for her while making it functional for Reilly. (Okay, I’ll admit it, his portion of the room definitely shrunk.)
After lots of late night furniture Tetris, everything came together beautifully and this momma couldn’t be happier!
My vision for the nursery:
Style: Modern, Scandinavian
Decor: Minimalistic
Textures: Natural wood, metal, fur, greenery
Colors: White, blush pink, dove grey, gold accents
The crib, dresser, and glider are all from Babyletto. When I saw the Hudson collection, it was love at first sight. Aside from being exactly what I had been searching for style-wise, the pieces also met my space-saving needs. The crib is a 3-in-1 convertible crib so I don’t have to worry about purchasing a toddler bed (score!). The dresser doubles as a changing table which is basically my favorite thing ever because we definitely did not have room for both! Finally, the chair is compact and comfortable (I had the hardest time finding a cushioned glider that wasn’t bulky). These amazing, quality pieces created a gorgeous framework for me to work with and set the tone for the entire room.
With floor space being limited, I quickly realized having a bookshelf wasn’t going to be an option. So instead, I had wall shelves custom created by Matt Black of Black Knott Designs. Not only do these beautiful handcrafted shelves perfectly match the nursery furniture, I was able to have them made to the exact dimensions of the changing table! It was such a pleasure working with Matt and I could not be any more obsessed with the shelves! Keep an eye out because I will definitely be having him make some more wooden treasures in the future.
I had a blast styling the shelves! At first I kept getting frustrated because I couldn’t find items that coordinated with the color palette. So I got crafty. The following were DIY projects: letter “Q”, wooden blocks, Russian nesting dolls, rabbit silhouette, and the nesting “house” shelves. I also made the wood bead garland above her crib and painted the canvases according to designs my husband made custom for her.
I’m smitten with how the nursery came out. It is perhaps my favorite space in the house (which is good because we will be spending a lot of time in there)! I can’t wait to show Little Miss Newman her room and I know I will cherish all the bonding that will take place within it.
